This notice explains what information the New York Structural Biology Center (NYSBC) collects when you use nysbc.org, how we use it, and the choices you have. It applies to this website only. It does not cover the separate systems used to schedule instrument time, manage projects, or run our national access centers, which are governed by their own terms.

Information We Collect

Information you give us. When you contact us, submit a careers or collaboration inquiry, or register for a course or event, we collect the information you provide—typically your name, email address, institution, and the contents of your message.

Information collected automatically. Like most websites, our servers record standard technical data when you visit, including your IP address, browser type, the pages you view, and the date and time of access. We use this to keep the site running and secure and to understand general usage patterns.

Cookies. The site sets no cookies beyond what is strictly necessary to function.

How We Use Information

We use the information above to respond to your inquiries, process course and event registrations, maintain the security and performance of the site, and comply with legal obligations. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for advertising.

Third-Party Services

Some pages rely on services provided by other companies. Our Contact page embeds Google Maps, which is subject to Google’s privacy terms. Our site also links to external resources, including individual staff profiles on ORCID. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of sites we link to, and we encourage you to review their notices.

Sharing

We share personal information only as needed to operate the site and our programs—for example, with service providers who host the site or process form submissions on our behalf—or where required by law.

Retention

We keep personal information only as long as needed for the purpose it was collected, after which it is deleted or anonymized.

Security

We take reasonable measures to protect the information we hold. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Children

This website is intended for a professional and academic audience and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. NYSBC’s outreach and education programs for younger students are administered separately from this website.
