Propelling structural biology scientists to the leading edge, together
A critical part of NYSBC’s mission is to educate and train researchers at all levels. Instrumentation for structural biology is sensitive, methods and technologies are constantly evolving, and analysis is complex. By fostering a community of structural biologists, NYSBC empowers researchers across the country to thrive as new challenges emerge.
Training at NYSBC establishes connections as PhD-seeking graduate students and post-doctoral fellows learn alongside visitors from across the country, many at NYSBC for workshops or courses. Our NIH-funded national centers provide hands-on formal and informal training opportunities tailored to the needs of each group, while online seminars disseminate best practices to a world-wide audience.
Recurring programs include the annual Winter–Spring EM Course for graduate students, the Tomography Short Course, and the monthly CryoEM Current Practices webinar series (co-hosted with PNCC and S2C2). Monthly NYSBC SCI-Talks feature speakers from the NYSBC community and beyond highlighting cutting-edge work in structural biology.
