Biography
Mihyun’s research focuses on how viral RNA structures and their interactomes shape disease processes, combining biochemical and biophysical approaches. Before joining NYSBC in late 2025, she investigated the structure-function relationships of long non-coding RNAs in cancer as part of her doctoral research. Originally from South Korea, Mihyun is also a licensed veterinarian with a background in the diagnostic pathology of poultry infectious diseases. Her broader scientific curiosity lies in understanding how biomolecules drive health and disease across species.
Beyond the lab bench, Mihyun finds almost everything fascinating. Life feels endlessly fun, and her only complaint is never having enough time to enjoy it all. That’s why NYC life fits her perfectly. Her lifetime dream is to win the lottery (despite never buying a ticket), while her slightly less realistic dream is to become a novelist. For now, her grounded goals include exploring amazing stationery shops and having healthy, home-cooked meals.
