NYSBC offers three semester long, fully accredited, graduate level courses available to students from NYSBC’s nine member institutions:
NMR Spectroscopy of Macromolecules
A detailed survey of the principles of modern techniques in NMR spectroscopy as applied to biological macromolecules. Offered Spring Semester in even-numbered years through Columbia University. For more information vist the course website here.
Cryoelectron Microscopy of Macromolecular Assemblies
Covers the theory and practice of solving structures by CEM. NYSBC also conducts non-credit, one-day Cryoelectron Microscopy workshops with presentations and practical demonstrations. Offered each Spring through our member institution registrars. For more information visit the course website here.
Biomolecular NMR Spectroscopy
Training in protein structure determination by NMR. Offered Spring Semester in odd-numbered years through CUNY. For more information visit the website here.
Special Training Courses
NYSBC also offers Short Training Courses to help users become more familiar with NMR spectrometer operation. Solution State Protein NMR and Solid State Protein NMR are offered to affiliates who:
- Have only a limited exposure to multidimensional NMR, but are familiar with simple NMR.
- Will begin operating the spectrometers locally at NYSBC within 3 months of the course.
- Are familiar with non-Bruker spectrometers, but need specific training for effective use of Bruker systems.
NYSBC also hosts school visits from elementary, middle, and high school students.
NYSBC hosts a biweekly seminar series, “Metagroup”, with presentations by scientists from Member Institutions, NYSBC staff, and visiting researchers. See the current semester schedule.
